My name is Yasaman Pishvaei, also known as Yassi, an Iranian multimedia artist, Expressive Arts facilitator, and researcher residing in the serene countryside near Berlin, Germany.
With a background that includes a bachelor's degree in Fine Arts from OCAD University in Toronto, Canada, and a Master's in Expressive Therapy with a minor in Psychology from the European Graduate School in Saas-Fee, Switzerland, I am currently pursuing a PhD in the same field.
My artistic and research practice explores relational, embodied, and imaginative ways of knowing, with particular interests in arts-based inquiry, decolonial epistemologies, diaspora, cultural memory, and the intersections of Expressive Arts and contemplative traditions. Through arts-based and participatory processes, I investigate how creative practice can open spaces for reflection, meaning-making, and alternative forms of knowledge production.
Alongside my artistic work, I have designed and facilitated workshops, retreats, and individual sessions in diverse cultural and educational contexts. My approach is grounded in Expressive Arts, phenomenology, and arts-based research, supporting individuals and groups in engaging creative processes as pathways for inquiry, discovery, and transformation.
Currently, I lead Expressive Arts training seminars and provide group supervision at Step Ahead, Berlin's Institute of Expressive Arts, where I support students in exploring and applying Expressive Arts approaches across therapeutic, educational, community, and research settings.
